Sir Thomas Wyatt the Poet

I'm writing a book on Sir Henry Wyatt, his famous son and his infamous grandson. This is bits and pieces of cool stuff I'm finding along the way.

Updated Wyatt Family Tree

October 23, 2011 by mickisuzanne

Updated 5/29/12

This should be a convenient starting-place for “cousins” who are just starting to pull their trees together.

Sir Thomas Wyatt the Poet, a.k.a. Sir Thomas Wyatt the Elder
Friend of /diplomat and ambassador for Henry VIII.
Born 1503 in Allington, Kent, England
Henry VIII had him deliver the Imperial Ambassador to London and he got sick from the heat and died at 39 years of age on 11 October 1542.
Married Elizabeth Brooke
The unhappy marriage did not last long.
She was born 1503 in Cobhamhall, Kent, England
After Sir Thomas’ death, Elizabeth remarried Sir Edward Warner, Lord Lieutenant of the Tower. When she died 10 October 1542, she was buried on Tower grounds.

(Interesting: After Henry VIII elbowed our Sir Tom out of Anne Boleyn’s circle, he took Elizabeth Darrell as his mistress. She was one of Katherine of Aragon’s few trusted servants. Katherine left money for Elizabeth’s eventual marriage, but that didn’t happen until both Sir Thomases were deceased. She had three children by Sir Thomas Wyatt the Poet and/or Sir Thomas Wyatt the Younger. Potentially tawdry, I know. After Wyatt’s Rebellion one of her sons was executed with his father or half-brother – depending on what you choose to believe.)

Sir Thomas Wyatt the Elder’s son by his wife, Elizabeth Brooke –

Sir Thomas Wyatt the Younger
One of the leaders of “Wyatt’s Rebellion” against Queen Mary Tudor
Born 1521 in Allington Castle
Died a traitor’s death 11 April 1554 for his role in the rebellion against Queen Mary (Wyatt’s Rebellion)

Great information! My Great Grandmother was Laura Estelle Wyatt, descended from this very line, branching at the fourth John Wyatt from his Son Thomas Ballard Wyatt 1755-1832.

Col. Thomas Ballard Wyatt is my 5th-great-uncle. He is descended from Major William Wyatt who was grandfather of the John Wyatt at Plain Dealing Plantation. His line almost assuredly descends from the Wyatts of Flansham, Sussex.
The parents of Thomas Ballard Wyatt are John Wyatt, 1731-1785, and Elizabeth Anne Smith, 1740-1766.
His (Wyatt) grandparents are John Wyatt, 1684-1750, who married Jennifer Pamplin, 1690-1750 (daughter of Nicholas Pamplin and Sarah Roane).
Then John Wyatt, 1657-1705, m. Anne Keen Jones, 1660-1684, daughter of Rice Jones.
Then Major William Wyatt, 1627-1683, m. Anna Jackson, 1630-1690.

These relationships are well-established and can be found via Google in various Tyler’s references.

One of my uncles, a cousin, my father, and myself all have DNA on Gedmatch for comparison. I administer all of these kits.

Hi, thanks for a wonderful post. I am very interested in getting your book when you are finished. My great grandmother was Ella Wyatt, daughter of Daniel Dee David Wyatt, from Tenessee born 1830, son of David wyatt and Jansey Nichols,David was the son of Daniel Wyatt and Martha Wells, and Daniel Wyatt was the son of John Wyatt,a mariner born in 1720 and Martha Gaines. My grandmother Katherine Knoy always told me that her mother Ella Wyatt lived with the Vandergrifs for a while after the death of her mother Nancy Burrows, until the Vandergrifs wanted to adopt her, but she did not want to leave her father,so he came and got her and then he married again. My grandmother also told me that after Ella’s children were grown, and no longer living with her she would always know when one of them was ill through her dreams. Ella also had a daughter Belle Sterns who had a daughter Constance Sterns who died in 1986 I think. If I am not mistaken my mother told me that she also wrote a book on the history of the Wyatt family that is in the library of congress if that would help you any, unfortunately I have never been able to find it, but I am new to geneology and have only looked once. Please let me know about you book or if you would like to contact me my email is Cemoore33@yahoo.com thanks.

    • on February 5, 2012 at 9:36 pm mickisuzanne

Cathy, thanks for writing – I would love to find Constance’s book. Was it on the American Wyatts? Also, if you subscribe to this blog or “like” Sir Thomas Wyatt on Facebook, you’ll be among the first to know when the book is done. Micki

Hi My name is Elizabeth Wyatt. I have been playing around on ancestry.com today and come to find out they are my great (x15) lol grandparents. Awesome to know how much my named stayed in the family after all these years as well, because someone in the wyatt family is named elizabeth every couple generations. My great uncle had told me this story before when I was younger but wasn’t really interested in ancestry when I was a teenager. I would def like more information if you could provide with with some. Please contact me I have some more questions! Thanks!

    • on February 29, 2012 at 6:22 pm mickisuzanne

Hi Elizabeth. I’m writing a book about the Wyatts; my focus is on the Tudor era and I share interesting research tidbits here on the blog. Ancestry.com is wonderful for filling out the tree. Micki

Billy R Davis Bastard son of Lawrence Wyatt of Robiline La. I also am a poet and a good one. I am a direct decendant of Sir Thomas Wyatt. Age 81. good luck ever, body & God bless you.

    FOR BILLY R. DAVIS

I am also a direct decendant of Sir Thomas Wyatt but was so saddened to read your referral to yourself as “Bastard son of Lawrence Wyatt”. I realize that is what the “Proper” folks would refer to you as, HOWEVER, the word “Bastard” in this history, should more correctly refer to Lawrence. Our parents make the decisions, they show be the ones to live with the tags!
ALWAYS delighted to meet another cousin :-))

You are so welcome Trish!!! I feel guilty I haven’t had time to work on this in the past few months.

  7. on September 20, 2012 at 9:18 am Ken Walter

I am researching the Wyatt family for my cousin’s wife (Ann Muckle nee Wyatt). I see that you show Adam’s wife as Agnes Wigton, whereas in the “Visitation of Kent 1619” the pedigree shows Agnes Wigan (sic) as the wife of Adam’s son William.

I’d be interested to learn of the evidence that has provided you with your version of the tree. Would you be willing to share an outline of this information please?

      Hi Ken

I didn’t bother to document variations in spelling since the line is well laid out. This was one of my sources: http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/WYATT.htm
      I also verify against ancestry.com

Just discovered your web site re the Wyatts. I am a descendant of Rev Haute Wyatt and am filling out a genealogy society form I need some proof for the four John Wyatt generations. How do we know that Capt. John Wyatt 1630-1670 is the father of John Wyatt 1663-1684 who married Ann Jones. And how do we know he is the John Wyatt who married Ann Jones. How do we know that John and Ann Jones are the parents of Capt. John Wyatt who married Jane Pamplin and how do we know their son was Capt. John Wyatt 1731-1785 who married Elizabeth Smith. The documentation about these four generations has been varied and confusing. I hope you can set me straight.

    • on January 26, 2013 at 4:36 pm mickisuzanne

Hi Jeane – I’m not sure what you need for proof, wish I could help. Maybe someone else can. Micki

      • on January 26, 2013 at 5:13 pm Jeane Parker, Gainesville, Georgia

I need to document how these four John Wyatts are connected. Will, list of children, parents, history books, etc. I am sure you will include your references and documentation in your new book and I want a copy of your book, but I need this information now for my genealogy form. Please see if you have a scrap you can send me. John Wyatt and Ann Jones are the most troubling. Who were their children and parents?

      • on January 27, 2013 at 3:01 pm mickisuzanne

My book is about our ancestors during the Tudor period, not here in America;and I don’t have a John and Mary in my American tree.

Ancestry.com is probably the best place to go. Descendants have done a lot of work. It might be easiest to find Sir Thomas Wyatt the Poet and work down through his descendants to find specifics.

Thanks for your response about your book. If your book includes Rev. Haute Wyatt, then I probably will want a copy of your book when it is ready. I would love to go back to the Magna Charta.

My problem is fleshing out the American proof. I believe I have the lineage right. With four John Wyatt’s in a row it is a task. Fortunately I have their wives names, but I do not have wills for all of them. I will try your site and ask the members what they have that might help. Also I know some researchers have interjected a William in the mix and that muddies the water somewhat. I am working on membership for Jamestowne Society and if they are like DAR and Colonial Dames, I feel sure they will want several sources. Please keep in touch.

    • on February 17, 2013 at 11:14 pm Shelba Nivens

Those are confusing to me, too. I can follow Haute’s descendants down to AnnJones and then mine goes a different direction from the lines I’ve seen posted here so far. My line leads into Shelby County Alabama where the last wyatt in my line is buried, Then the name changes on down to me.

      • on June 19, 2018 at 12:36 pm Laura Higginbotham

Shelba, I’m aware you share the same William H Wyatt of Shelby Co as I do, but don’t know your relationship. He ‘s my 3x great grandfather. I’ve seen where you have your line back to Haute elsewhere, but as for myself, cannot find a scrap that gets me beyond William. Would appreciate if you could point me in the right direction.

      • on June 19, 2018 at 1:37 pm Robert Wyatt

The John Wyatt who married Ann Jones is a descendant of Major William Wyatt, not Rev. Haute Wyatt OR Sir Francis Wyatt.

        https://www.jstor.org/stable/1915003?seq=1#page_scan_tab_contents

This is my line and I’m a direct male descendant.

        Kind regards,

Shelba – Ancestry.com is probably the easiest way to track your specific line.

I found extensive family photos, articles and family history collected by Sally White, a relative of Sir Francis Wyatt, who passed away in Orange County, California, a few years ago. I kept all of her memorabilia, hoping I could find a relative who might be interested in her stellar family history. I would love to forward them to the appropriate individual!

Sally lived very modestly, so it was shocking to learn of this treasure trove documenting her incredibly rich lineage. It appears that Sally was a descendant of Rev. Haute Wyatt, Minister to Jamestown Colony, brother of Sir Francis Wyatt. In a letter to Mrs. Elizabeth Wyatt Parshall of Kansas City Missouri, dated Sept. 26, 1944, from Mrs. Austin (Evelyn) Abernathy of Evanston, Illinois, there is a reference to the history of the Wyatt family in England and America “to be published after the war is over by one of our family that lives in Washington, D.C.” Another letter, dated April 11, 1915 is from Elisabeth Thomas Wallis Schutt and E.T.W. Schutt (aka E. T. Schutt and Elisabeth Thomas Schutt) of Venice Florida, to Miss Elisabeth Wyatt of White Bird, Idaho, a “descendant of the Old Maryland Thomas Family.” There is extensive family history and lineage and stories revealed in the letter.

Among Sally’s materials are references to published works containing the family lineage.

There is an undated obituary in the Lewiston Morning Tribune of Frank E. Wyatt, 87, of Grangeville, referencing him as “a colorful figure of the old west, cattle king of Idaho for many years and credited with making the first carload shipment of cattle in the territory west of the Rock mountains, builder of the first stockyards in Spokane, and among the best known citizens of northern Idaho.” He was born Nov. 22, 1848 in Camp Branch, St. Charles county, Missouri and lived (after his parents died) with his grandparents M/M William Thomas of Baltimore, Maryland. He and his brother later settled in Greeley, Colorado, until his move in 1894 to Idaho. He was a personal friend of William F. Cody (Buffalo Bill). In 1877, he married Miss Margaret Ellen Cone of Philadelphia and had two daughters, Mrs. Ella Ninneman of Oakland, CA and Mrs. Jack Parshall of Alameda, CA, and a son Edward Wyatt of Whitebird.

Sally was born in Portland, Oregon, to Orval D. Manary and Francis Ninneman.

Please let me know if there is any interest…

    • on January 2, 2015 at 12:55 am Mark Wyatt

Peggy, nice that you held onto Sally’s memorabilia. Did you ever find someone to pass the information to? By the way, I am a Wyatt just getting started into the family name and history.

Thanks for the wonderful info! I have just discovered my direct line to Sir Thomas Wyatt. My great great grandmother was Malinda Wyatt, married Henry Freisland. Her father was Aaron Wyatt II, whose father was Aaron Wyatt I. His father was William Wyatt, whose father was John Wyatt II, whose father was John Wyatt I. Then we have another William and another John, whose father was Haute Wyatt. And of course, Haute was the grandson of Thomas the younger. Thanks for gathering all this information and sharing with descendants!!

I am a descendant of Elizabeth Wyatt, daughter of Francis Wyatt and Elizabeth Kennon. Her 1st m. Coleman and 2nd m. William Johnston. I am related to Elizabeth Wyatt Coleman & William Johnston. Please contact me if you have information on this line.

  13. on August 16, 2014 at 2:07 am Sharon Schulze

I have been trying to figure out my husband s Wyatt tree. It goes from Francis and Margaret Sandys to edwin and francis crispe but other sources say Edwin’s line died out, this is where it diverges from your line. From Edwin we go to Thomas and margaret Hanks. Other sources say this line died out with Edwin and the american line comes from Haute. Can you clear this up?

    • on August 16, 2014 at 2:44 pm mickisuzanne

Hi Sharon – I did a quick search, I know nothing about Francis Wyatt’s line. According to Wikipedia – which is less than trustworthy: “Sir Francis’s wife Margaret was the daughter of Sir Samuel Sandys and the niece of George Sandys, the treasurer of Jamestown. Francis and Margaret’s children included Henry, whose daughter Frances briefly held Boxley; Francis, who was at King’s College, Cambridge, in 1639; Edwin, an MP who successfully sued his niece to regain Boxley, but whose son died without issue; and Elizabeth, whose grandson Robert Marsham, 1st Baron Romney (1685–1724), eventually inherited Boxley. Boxley remained with the barons and earls of Romney for more than two hundred years.[5] Sir Francis left no direct descendants in what would later become the United States of America.”

I would do more research on Edwin – maybe use the search term “Edwin Wyatt MP UK” I found this fascinating link but don’t have time to research it for you: http://books.google.com/books?id=kjme027UeagC&pg=PA172&dq=Edwin+Wyatt+MP&hl=en&sa=X&ei=JKbvU4CiK8eLyATK2oD4Bg&ved=0CC0Q6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=Edwin%20Wyatt%20MP&f=false

Hello. My great great grandmother was Eliza Wyatt Collins. She is buried in a family cemetery near Monmouth, Oregon in the USA. I have photos of her and her husband Ralph L Collins. They came to Oregon in 1843 on the Applegate Wagon Train and settled land near Monmouth with the land grants. I’m just getting in the genealogy.

  15. on September 10, 2014 at 1:05 pm Deanna Korte

My second cousin stumbled upon this site and realized we are descendants as well, through Haute Wyatt – John Wyatt I – John Wyatt II – Ann Wyatt. Can’t wait to read the book! I’m just learning about this line. 🙂

  16. on September 16, 2014 at 5:12 pm Mark a Wyatt II

Hello my name is Mark Anthony Wyatt II. My grandfather’s name is Max Thomas Wyatt. He is from Sarasota FL. Does anyone have any information about Thomas Wyatt’s descendant’s living in the state of Florida?

  17. on September 25, 2014 at 8:26 pm Julie Jimenez

Hello – I too stumbled across this site while doing research. I would be a cousin way back at the point of George Wyatt and Jane Finch, through their son Thomas. Nice to find more info and I look forward to seeing the book!

I am looking forward to the “book” also. Keep me informed.

I found this just be searching the web and working on ancestry.com. What a great source of information!! I am a direct descendent of Rev. Haute Wyatt via his 1st marriage to Barbara (through son, George). And like others here I am fascinated with the history of the Wyatt’s..

  19. on January 2, 2015 at 12:45 am Mark Wyatt

I am Mark D. Wyatt in Northern Indiana. In the early part of the 1900’s, I had Wyatt family in southern West Virginia, McDowell county, and parts of Kentucky, maybe the Pikeville area. Looking through old photos with my maternal grandma years ago I saw a photo of a Hatfield grave – the Hatfield’s vs. McCoy’s clan. I asked her why she had the photo. She laughed and said they are relatives of mine. I have no idea how. By the way, she was a Kirk and I am told her father was a full blooded Indian. All of which makes an interesting story I suppose but what I am most interested in is following the blood line of Wyatt’s and knowing how we came to be in the Kentucky and West Virginia area – and where the Wyatt’s were before that. Other info would be great too!

    • on January 2, 2015 at 12:52 pm mickisuzanne

Hi Mark, I’m the author of this blog. (Haven’t been very active lately because of workload ….) But if I remember correctly, land in Kentucky was payment for soldiers who fought in the Revolutionary War. Yup – here it is. From Ancestry.com –

“After the Revolutionary War, the federal government awarded bounty lands to citizens and soldiers for services rendered. In its simplest form, this involved the exchange of free land for military service. Federal records of these Revolutionary War bounty land awards are well known and readily accessible to genealogists. But the federal government was not alone in rewarding its citizens and soldiers with bounty lands. Nine state governments adopted similar policies, generating even more records. Unlike the federal bounty land records, however, these state records are not centralized; instead, they are found in the various states in the form of manuscript records and printed books and are all but inaccessible to the researcher.”

      UNTIL NOW. Here’s the link.
      http://search.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=49315

I was told my Wyatt line also has native blood and have struggled to find it. I finally paid for the Ancestry DNA analysis, which should arrive any day.

      Happy New Year –

Cousin Micki (a.k.a. Sir Thomas Wyatt the Poet)

    • on October 12, 2015 at 12:11 am Donald Wyatt

Mark. I to am a Wyatt. My father was from Western VA. He was the only son of John Marion Wyatt. John M. Was a son of George L. D. Wyatt also of Virginia but born in NC. I have much info on my line back to George but nothing past that. I started on this 20 years ago and got side tracked but have gotten the bug again. I currently live ion Idaho but was born in Harrisonville, OH. When I was young our family visited with Wyatt’s in KY, TN, VA, and NC. George had, I think, 6 sons and 1 daughter. I have all their names and ages and even some of their children’s names. I got them the old fashioned way. I went to court houses and libraries in the VA. KY areas in person. :ots of hours in research.

Hi Donald, If I’m not mistaken this line’s (Francis Marion Wyatt’s) DNA matches mine, which strongly suggests this line of descent:

The below-referenced John Wyatts and Major William Wyatt are my direct-line 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-great-grandfathers. My DNA (and others from this direct line) is available on Gedmatch (and FTDNA) for comparison.

Here’s an accurate reference for rebuilding your tree:

“The site of Major William Wyatt’s home is not known, but it is probable that he lived at one of the early sites on the Mattaponi river, which later was used by subsequent owners.
John Wyatt, son of Major William Wyatt, married Ann, daughter of Rice Jones, who died testate in Rappahannock County in 1684.
It was John Wyatt, son of John and Ann Wyatt, who moved to Caroline County, and settled at Plain Dealing on the Pamunkey River. He was a magistrate who was appointed by Governor William Gooch and served his lifetime. He married Ann Pamplin, and his estate was administered by John Pamplin in 1751.” [and it provides references]

I would like to say according to the family tree we are related all the way from Adam Wyatt to —-> Sir George Wyatt whom married Jane Finch… it so nice to find someone else who is into this as much as I am ….

  21. on January 20, 2016 at 8:52 am Mikhael Brown

Is there any information of the ancestry before Adam Wyatt?

    • on January 22, 2016 at 1:04 pm mickisuzanne

When you go that far back, it’s hard to know if the earlier information is reliable. That may have changed since I did my research.

      Mikhael ,
Yes , Adam 1320-1385 ,very interesting family line

I am a Wyatt ancestor on my maternal side , I have traced the family back using ancestry.com . So interesting to read comments by obvious blood relatives I have never met . One thing I found curious is that my brother is the exact duplicate of Wyatt the Younger ,sent chills thru me when I saw his portrait and also the story that he broke out windows in London , my brother broke out windows when he was young and got in serious trouble ,mom was not so happy .It is interesting to see how DNA effects our taste in decor , food ,etc..and also that I love to write poetry and have been told I am quite good , I’m not so sure but my friends love my poetry ,love to receive a copy of your book.
CRW -member of the Wyatt family from Virginia when they arrived in the 1600’s ,father returned to England but his son stayed and here we are. Ancestors of a very brave colonial family ,love to all.

I’m descended from Sir Thomas Wyatt through my great great grandmother Elizabeth Wyatt. Our family line got the poetry gene!

Thank you for your information. It is, indeed, true that familial traits can be identified. I am a “closet writer” as is my younger brother. We are also great talkers. I am also a Wyatt of my mother’s side. Her great grandmother was Emily Eliza Wyatt and came to Oregon with her husband and children in 1845 and settled in the Willamette Valley on a donation land claim. I live about 20 miles from the original claim. She, her husband, Smith Collins, and some of her children are buried in a family cemetery a few miles from where I live. We are reclaiming the cemetery for modern use by our family. I have photos if you are interested.

Hello Cousin , would love to see photos ,i love to talk too ,family trait lol ,We have traced our family on the Wyatt side to the early 1400’s ,Closer to our time in the 1600’s 1st Governor of Virginia , he moved back to England and died there but his son stayed here and so here we are .Many royal titles in the family lineage on the Tudor side.Interesting history!!!

Hello again. Our cousin, Ruth Ann Johnson, has made a very thorough search of the Wyatt family and has visited the “old home castle”. She too has research the Wyatt family back into the the time of Thomas, the Elder, and I believe before his time. Seems the Wyatts have pretty much been “mucking about” in lots of things that are not always any of their business. Same seems true today. I have forwarded your email to her.

Now I will try to send the photos of the headstones/memorials. Please let me know if you get them and what you might think of them.

        Thank you,

        Colleen

Haute Wyatt for Cousin Jeanne Parker
    1594 -1638
Son of my 13th g-g-parents Sir George Wyatt and Lady Jane Finch
    children:
Sir Francis Wyatt 1st English Royal Governor of Virginia
    Eleanor Wyatt
    Anne Twisden
    Reverend Hawte Wyatt
Margeret Wyatt and 7 others , whew
As you can see Sir George and Lady Finch had many children
and yes ,Haute or Hawte Wyatt was the brother of the 1st Royal Governor of Virginia
His father .Sir George, returned to England but his children stayed in the colonies
so our grandparents are the same
We are cousins thru Reverend Haute Wyatt and Sir Francis Wyatt
Reverend Wyatt also returned to England but his children stayed in the colonies , He died in 1638
    see pics of Allington Castle

Info from National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century Application

Rev. Hawt/Haute Wyatt came to Virginia on November 18, 1621

In 1621, Rev. Haute Wyatt came to Jamestown, Virginia. His oldest brother, Sir Franics Wyatt was twice governor of Virginia. Sir Francis brought his brother to Jamestown as his chaplain. Some think that the Rev. Haute was a pastor of the Episcopal church in Jamestown, but this no evidence has been found listing him as a pastor in Jamestown. Rev. Haute Wyatt brought his oldest son, Edward, who two years old, with him to Jamestown, Virginia.

He returned to England where he died in 1638. While in Virginia he took up large grants of land for his children in Virginia so the were wealth land owners.
Our family was some of the 1st settlers of Jamestown . Virginia and moved on from there and spread thru out the country .

  25. on September 30, 2016 at 9:50 am cetty

Jeanne , I meant to say Haute’s brother Sir Francis eventually returned to England( not their parent Sir George) and died there , Haute returned to England and died there also . Sir George and Lady Jane”s 2 sons Hawte and Sir Francis, whom I heard were very close emotionally as siblings , it is their children that make us related as cousins , same DNA ,one very interesting thing is that someone had to be extremely wealthy to go back and forth between England at that time . Can you imagine how brave they were to travel to the unknown in a ship bouncing and rocking back and forth in that big wide ocean only seeing blue waters and skies for a long time until seeing land .It says a lot how close Hawte and his brother Sir Francis were that Hawte agreed to help his brother in Jamestown ,I have always had a very strong belief in God since I was a child and I teach the Bible to others when I am able , I think I have Uncle Haute’s love of the Bible in me from him .Note: (the spelling of Hawte and Haute are the same person ,in early England , this was common)

  26. on October 2, 2016 at 12:52 pm cetty

Cousin Jeanne , You are welcome , my typing skills are not the best as I have eye disease but I hope you understood the gist of it , put simply Sir George and Lady Jane Finch are grandparents we both share ,Hawte and Francis connect us as Cousins , and we are direct descendants of the Tudor Family in the royal line of England , many different avenues of proof , the Royal line is very much detailed and documented in the archives of England and very easy to prove because of their meticulous keeping of records. So ,yes if you google Women of Tudor we would be among them , these are also our ancestors .

Could someone help me find out if somehow my family is also descendants or relatives? The highest up I know is my great-grandfather Numa Wyatt. We’re assuming he was born around 1904-6-ish because my grandfather, Adley Wyatt, was born in 1924. Also, fun fact – I, being a female, will most likely be the last of this Wyatt branch.

This line is not correct and has led to many errant duplicates across the internet. Please, please, please correct your research!

I’m a direct decedent of Sir Thomas Wyatt The Elder/Poet on my mother’s side. He is my 15th great grandfather, I was told my entire life that I was related to him, but I didn’t realize just how much of a straight shot it was. Our (you and I) lines break up at Rev Haute Wyatt; he had two wives I’m related to Edward Wyatt through his first marriage and you through Anne Cox, who was his second wife. It’s too bad that my family Wyatt (name) line has ended since my grandpa never had any sons.

I am trying to track down a link between an ancestor. The majority of trees seem to state that Elisobeth (Wyatt) Palmer, born in Gloucester, VA in 1719 and died in Buncombe County, NC in 1820 is descended from James Wyatt, Conquest Wyatt, Edward Wyatt, Rev. Haute Wyatt. She was married to a George Palmer from Richmond County, VA, which isn’t too far from Gloucester. They were apparently married in Culpeper. VA. I have a photo of her gravestone with her name, birth year, death year and Husbands name. BUT, I cannot find a source for this info. And it is not universally accepted. Is this just a Gator
